When you get down to four players and three of them get paid, many people would think that this is the time to slow down and wait until one more player gets eliminated and safely get into the money. However, if your goal is to win every single Sit & Go you play, you won’t follow this principle but instead you will realize that this is actually the time to play super-aggressive poker.

If you are lucky enough to possess the most chips on the table, you can start raising or moving all-in every time against the average stacks that are waiting for the smallest stack to get eliminated because they will provide no resistance and you will be able to get a humongous chip lead which will help you win the tournament.

Bluffing is an integral part of all poker tournaments. Therefore, if you wish to become a professional Hold’em player, you must know when to bluff. According to the basic rules of bluffing, you must not bluff if there are more than three players on the table. If you wish to take the pot from the loose aggressive players, then you must never bet against them, instead try calling a raise. Create a tight image at the table, which would simplify the process of winning the pots later on. Always bet against the weak players since they have very little idea about bluffs or semi-bluffs.

The game was first played at the Golden Nuggets Casino and this was the only place where Texas Hold’em was played for many years. The game wasn’t actually this popular until the 1970’s, where it was accepted at tournament levels. However, in 2003, Chris Moneymaker won the World Series of Poker with this game and concluded that this was the best game to make money. This attracted most poker enthusiasts to venture into the game.

Hold’em poker is a game that requires a lot of skill and therefore we have formulated some tips for the amateurs, so as to help them gain success. We have stressed about the importance of position in the game, but do not bet too aggressively if you are in the early betting position. You must judge your hand in your accordance to the number of people on the table. For an instance, a queen would be good if you have about 2-3 opponents. However if there are more than 10 players on the table, you must bet with higher cards such as a king or an ace.

If you were to play a Texas Hold’em tournament, then you must know how to play all-ins, so as to steal chips. You know also be aware on how to defend all-ins from other players, which is crucial as well as difficult for all participants. It is obvious that you would have only two options when an opponent calls all-in, either to call or fold. It is too late to trick or outplay this opponent. You would need a better hand to call this player and win the pot. There is a famous saying amongst all poker players, ‘an all in would win all the times but once’. As a defender, you just have to look at that once chance to outplay your all-in opponent.

This book by Mathew Hilger shows more than just reading odds in Texas Hold’em poker. The author also explains ways to relate to these pot odds, so as to help players in taking best decisions. As compared to other poker books, this book discusses the percentages and the odds in a more mathematical way. The book is full of case studies and scenarios, which would involve the player to calculate the odds and make the right decision. There are two sections in the book – one about fixed limit hold’em whereas other is about no limit hold’em.

With the advent of social networking sites, Facebook poker has become exceedingly popular. These tips may probably sound simple and straightforward; however they are often overlooked by most players. You must take full advantage of your premium hands. This would mean that you would not waste your chip stack on weaker hands. On the other hand, you must be willing to take some risks with bigger hands. Lastly, you need to be patient with your hands. According to the experts, about 95% of the players are not patient and end up losing poker chips. Most players are also incapable of dealing with a tilt.

Practice Makes Perfect – Studying pot odds as well as reading poker related books would acquaint you with the rules of the game; however it would be of no use if you do not put your strategies to practice.

Regardless of whether it is a small stakes poker, high stakes poker or tourney play, it is essential to realise the importance of position. All positions begin with the dealer button and it is one of the best spots to play. You would have a lot of rewards if you were to play last in the game, especially with a strong hand. This would give you an opportunity to assess the bets before you and a raise or a pre-raise would denote a premium hand. This would give you a good chance at betting or calling a raise.
